Growing up in Carletonville and attending Carlton Jones High School where I finished Matric in 1983 and done 2 years Military Service.

I married Isabel in 1988 and have 2 children who all support me.

Starting in 1980 with a scrap piece of Stainless Steel in my Dad's Workshop I created my first knife and from that day forward it was in my blood.

The only way I could learn in those days was from magazine articles and the good old knife book
"How to Make Knives"  by Robert Loveness .
The other basic skill of metal work was taught to me by my Dad.

Two years ago I attended a course with Thinus & Gawie Herbst who taught me the finer skills and till today still give me good advice.

It was much later that I bought the correct machines and started making knives that could be sold.

My dream has been to make knives every day, but being in Retail there was no time.
In June 2014, I decided to stop work and do knife making full time.
We moved to Hartbeespoort where I have set up my workshop, which is set in the most peaceful surroundings to create a piece of art.

All my knives are made totally by hand and I do my own heat treating.
I use mainly N690 and an array of handle materials.
